There were lots of things that were needed to make 4e easy to play. A way of keeping track of healing surges, skill usage, hit-points, powers.
Powers is where it all started. I was quickly frustrated with 4e trying to track powers was cumbersome and despite the ways I came up with to track it nothing worked that well. Tracking Healing surges and powers was what i4e 1.0 did. More came quickly after that, skills, items, weapons, items, experience and many more.
2.0 brought the import site because I felt that inputting a character into the app using only the device was a bit crazy. Being able to use your computer to type in the information and then import it into the device. Soon after that the ability to start off the character on the import site using .dnd4e files from the character builder was a huge step forward.
.dnd4e files were also very annoying, they didn't have the best formatting and XML parsing to start with is pretty annoying. But in the end it got pretty close to getting 95% of the character entered properly.
So what are the things that are need for a 5e app? Is there anything that would be useful like they were in 4e?
Some of the things I initially thought of in the beginning were as follows.
- hit point tracking
- in app dice rolling for weapons
- spell tracking
So let me know what else you think it should do.
